Horticultural Skills (City and Guilds) – Monday 5th to Friday 9th August 2018

We pride ourselves in delivering horticultural courses that are unique, and we believe this to be the only one of its kind in the area.  You will have access to the full range of resources at our cut flower nursery, and have the chance to learn through lots of hands-on activities.

This course will cover all the principles of organic horticulture, from soil management, plant propagation, plant establishment, plant maintenance, pest and disease control, to plant characteristics, composting, companion planting, and much, much more!  The course is co-delivered by Jo, Organic Blooms Founder and Andy, our lead horticulturalist.  There will be some theory and plenty of chance for questions and practicing skills.

Cost includes all materials and light refreshments. Please bring a packed lunch to enjoy in our gardens. Each day will start from 9:30am and finish around 4pm.

Participants on this course may be eligible for a City and Guilds certificate – if you would like to register for this, please choose the option which includes the City and Guilds Registration (a £50 Registration Fee applies). If you successfully pass the course, there will be an additional fee due for Certification. This will be £100 for a Diploma, £50 for a Certificate and £30 for an Award.

Organic Blooms is a Social Enterprise based just outside of Bristol. We grow beautiful seasonal British cut flowers and herbs – sustainably and without the use of artificial chemicals.

Growing cut flowers is therapeutic, at Organic Blooms we use all the wonders of working with nature to benefit local people with disabilities and support needs. We have adapted our working nursery and employ specialist staff to support people to gain valuable skills and the confidence to get into work.

If you love flowers, care about where they come from and how they are grown, then an Organic Blooms workshop could be just what you’ve been looking for!
